Where to book in Khao Yai: our two picks

Khao Yai is a weekend escape from Bangkok, so the best base is one with its own pool and a car park. Our independent pick is a Scandinavian-style boutique resort near Pak Chong; the second is a private pool villa resort a few minutes away.

By Kylian Dev

  • One independent address
  • One mid-range option on Trip.com
  • Weak points written down

Our short list

  • Hotel MYS Khao Yai — Musi subdistrict, Pak Chong (287 Moo 4), Nakhon Ratchasima province. The independent address we would book for something with character.
  • Nimman Pool Villa Resort — Mu Si subdistrict, Pak Chong (224 Moo 6), Khao Yai area. The easier, mid-range choice.

Best season: November to February is cool and dry and the best time for the national park; the rainy season runs roughly May to October.

Independent pick

Hotel MYS Khao Yai

Boutique resort: 16 rooms, 6 pool villas and a 3-bedroom villa · Musi subdistrict, Pak Chong (287 Moo 4), Nakhon Ratchasima province

What convinced us is the format: a small house with a handful of villas rather than a block of rooms. We would book it for a quiet two nights with the pool as the main outing.

Best for

Couples, Bangkok weekend breaks, Families who want a pool villa

Three things that make it special

  • Pool villas of 106 sqm with heated pools, plus a 3-bedroom villa with a glass-bottom pool
  • A Scandinavian-inspired design that feels unlike the usual resort style in the area
  • Direct bookings include an afternoon tea, early check-in or late check-out and 15% off food and drink

The weak points

  • No beach, no town on foot: you need a car or a driver for the national park and for dinner outside the hotel

Nimman Pool Villa Resort

Private pool villa resort (5 villa types, all with private pool) · Mu Si subdistrict, Pak Chong (224 Moo 6), Khao Yai area

We chose it as the practical option for a group: one villa with its own pool is easier to share than several rooms. Check the live rate for your dates.
